RETATRUTIDE GLP-1 | GIP | GLUCAGON: The next generation of weight-loss medication
Retatrutide (nicknamed “Triple G”) is a groundbreaking investigational drug being developed for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

How does retatrutide work?
Retatrutide works by mimicking three key natural hormones that regulate appetite and metabolism: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon. This three-pronged approach is what makes it unique:
GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1): This hormone helps you feel fuller for longer by slowing down digestion and sending signals to your brain that reduce appetite and food cravings.
GIP (Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide): Working together with GLP-1, GIP enhances your body’s ability to release insulin in response to food, helping to stabilize blood sugar levels and improve fat metabolism.
Glucagon: Activating the glucagon receptor stimulates your body to break down stored fat for energy, which can boost energy expenditure and contribute to greater fat loss.
Promising clinical trial results
Although still in Phase 3 clinical trials, early research has shown remarkable results for retatrutide:
Significant weight loss: In adults with obesity (but without diabetes), the highest dose of retatrutide led to a mean weight reduction of 24.2% after 48 weeks. For comparison, participants on a placebo lost only about 2.1% of their weight.
Improved metabolic health: In patients with type 2 diabetes, retatrutide demonstrated clinically significant improvements in glycemic control, reducing HbA1c levels and leading to reductions in waist circumference, blood pressure, and triglycerides.
Benefits for fatty liver disease: A sub-study found that retatrutide dramatically reduced liver fat content, with over 85% of participants on the highest doses achieving resolution of fatty liver disease after 48 weeks.
